Sector 14 is a short horror game where you explore increasingly larger layers of an "abandoned" research facility and retrieve the research files.

you play as an intern who worked on the higher levels in this sector who was never allowed to go near the research facilities until now. In the game you go down in an old elevator and collect all the research files on the level while maintaining the elevators tension so it doesn't leave without you.

the game takes around 20 - 40 min to finish, I think

you get a flashlight that is "always on" once picked up

you always have a compass that shows your direction, how many files left on each level, and how much time until the elevator leaves, you can open it with [Q]

you can find a new map on each level that you can pick up and open with [E]

you can also find cans of spray paint on later levels that when you look at the ground and press [F] and it will spray an arrow in the direction your playing

about the development 

this is my first horror game that's actually meant to be scary so I hope it achieves that

originally I just wanted to take mess around with some dithering shaders and lighting effects and a 3D environments as a break from a 2D game I've been slowly making for a while. I ended up really liking how it looked and wanted to try to turn it into a full game. About a month later of working on it I'm pretty happy with how its turned out.

originally I wanted each level to be fully randomly generated and I had a lot of fun programing the random level generation. However I'm still not the most experienced programmer and the load times for the levels were way to inefficient and would not be suitable to generate at run time. Because of this I generated three levels and tweaked them and placed objects into the environment and then drew set maps with the set file locations for them. it would have been cool to have the random generation but it just wasn't viable for me for such a small scaled project .

the game itself was made in unity

all the sound effects where taken from freeSound and edited in audacity

all the models where made by me in blender and some of the textures where edited in aseprite
